Dear Friends, In the last edition of The Placard, I wrote in detail about our Away Day - Moving on Together- on 17th May to highlight the importance of thinking through together what it means for us as individuals to be disciples of Jesus Christ. This, in turn, can have implications for the life and witness of St. Paul's within the United Benefice with St. Mary's. It was good to see so many people at All Saints, Hampton last Saturday and, from the comments I have received, many benefited from how Revd. Richard King led each session: Called Together Sent out Together Overcoming Together The Away Day resulted in a variety of comments and suggestions, which I very much welcome, as we think through new ways of reaching out into our local community. For those who were not able to join us, I do want to make it clear that this Away Day was not the end of the process - rather the beginning!! All comments and suggestions from the Away Day, and indeed from any of you subsequently (whether or not you came to the Away Day), as to how we at St. Paul's can be more effective in our worship and our witness in East Molesey will be taken to the Away Day for the PCC members of St. Paul's and St. Mary's on 19th July. I consider it very important that if you have a view or suggestion on this significant topic that you let me have it by email, telephone message, or a written note through my letter box. If you wish to remain anonymous, that is absolutely fine. Everything will be treated in the strictest confidence. While it is good to give thanks to God for all the positive things that are already happening in each parish, I know that we can be more effective in our worship and witness. I am also taking on board the matters which came out of the Presentation regarding your replies to the Ministry Questionnaire. These will also be discussed at the PCC Away Day. I do want us in the United Benefice to Move On TOGETHER. So you’re your suggestions coming! As I said at our APCM, I am taking the PCC Away Day seriously, as is Carole Bourne and as is our Archdeacon, Julian Henderson, who will be leading our Day for us. I hope you will too. Our future depends on it!
